MEET Dr. Gordon
Dr. Alex (Kivi) Gordon is a licensed clinical psychologist with a Ph.D. from St. John’s University. Dr. Gordon’s clinical training includes work at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, where he trained in providing care for medically complex patients with psychological sequelae, and the Albert Ellis Institute, where he adopted a clinical treatment approach founded in Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT). He remains an associate fellow at the Institute.
Dr. Gordon completed internship at VA New Jersey Healthcare, where he developed expertise in treating PTSD in veterans, while also working in the pain management and psycho-oncology clinics and provided both inpatient and outpatient treatment to patients with spinal cord injuries.
Currently, he is an outpatient psychologist at NYC Health+Hospitals/North Central Bronx (of Jacobi Medical Center), where he also oversees the psychology internship outpatient training component and serves as co-director of the externship training program.
Dr. Gordon combines his expertise with a laid-back and approachable personality, allowing him to forge trusting and collaborative relationships with patients. His style allows him to simultaneously support and challenge his patients. A generalist practitioner who treats the gamut of mental health challenges, he also specializes in health psychology, focusing on adjustment to medical illness, chronic pain, health behavior change, and helping families navigate the hurdles of serious medical and psychiatric conditions.
